With Windows Server 2012 release just around the corner, it looks like the “era of the Cloud” is upon us.
In the coming months, as small and medium companies deploy this new product, they will be encouraged to take advantage of integrated Cloud management tools and dashboards, to leverage hosted SaaS products (such as Hosted Exchange, and Office 365) in place of Microsoft mainstays such as Exchange and Sharepoint. These changes will have particular impact on users of the Small Business Server products, who will be forced to migrate to hosted solutions. The SBS line is being discontinued, with the exception of the Essentials product (this will undoubtedly become the de-facto standard for the SMB sector).
Good, bad or indifferent, the Cloud rush is here – and I doubt its going anywhere soon.
