Call of Duty Elite

Now that Modern Warfare 3 has been announced, and the teaser videos have started, what else could Activision throw our way to get us even more excited? Call Of Duty Elite. It is here and is no longer a rumor.
Rather than writing an article of my own, I would rather direct your attention to an already well written one. If you do not feel like reading the whole thing, check out the very well done video, made through COD Black Ops Theatre Mode. Once you read the article and/or watch the video, continue reading this post.
Wow, a lot to take in, right? How are they going to collect in game data and have it available on so many sources? Those details may be to come as they release the beta for Black Ops this summer. But what I am really curious about is, is this really needed?
COD Black Ops already has a lot of the features mentioned here. The player card is advanced compared to any previous COD with detailed charts on how well you do in different game modes, with each gun, and the like. Is Elite combining these features with a clan battle type website, or is it creating something more? Is this the beginning of what could turn into the future of gaming we see in movies? Can social gaming be achieved? Or is it already? How do you think this will effect online play, especially in the FPS genre?
